The reading season of autumn, or those quiet moments before bed. When an unexpected visitor arrives, or when drowsiness forces you to close your book—what do you do?
Lay it face-down on the desk? But you worry about damaging the spine. Slip in a bookmark and close it? But then the beautiful cover design disappears from view.
TENT's "BOOK YACHT" is a product designed to solve this very dilemma faced by book lovers. It's both a book stand and, at the same time, a "three-dimensional bookmark."

As the name suggests, the BOOK YACHT is modeled after a yacht—a sailboat.
Using it is wonderfully intuitive. Simply drape your open book, page-side down, over the "sail." The book balances exquisitely on its own, held in place as if it were a yacht catching the wind and gliding forward.
Though it's merely sitting there, a dynamic beauty emerges—as if the story itself is still in motion. There's a Japanese word, tsundoku, for piling up unread books, but this isn't a device for piling. It's a device for letting books float in space.

The form serves both functional and emotional purposes.
- Page-keeper function: The pointed "sail" shape gently but firmly holds your open page in place. When you're ready to continue reading, just lift the book—you can resume in zero seconds.
- A sense of floating: The combination of a wooden base and a thin steel plate makes the book appear to hover slightly above the desk. This reduces visual clutter on your workspace.
- Compatible sizes: Works with everything from pocket paperbacks to A5-size (hardcover) books. The balance achieved when an A5 book is placed on it is especially beautiful—every detail calculated with precision.
| A Hybrid of Wood and Steel

The BOOK YACHT is built from a combination of contrasting materials.
The base uses warm, natural beech wood—the same kind found in fine furniture. The "sail" that supports the book is made of matte-painted steel.
This contrast is essential. The stability when set on a desk (the weight of the wood) paired with visual lightness (the thinness of the steel). It even comes as a self-assembly kit you put together with screws—evoking the same affection for a tool you'd feel building a plastic model.

Once you start using the BOOK YACHT, the very act of setting down a book becomes enjoyable.
"This is where I left off today." When you entrust your book to the sail with that thought, it's no longer a simple interruption—it becomes a ship docking at port. Because your favorite cover is always facing you, it catches your eye in unguarded moments and quietly nudges you: Maybe I'll read a little more.
You could call it a device for cherishing the thickness and weight of a physical book—qualities you simply can't experience with an e-book.

This product is for those who enjoy books not as mere "information" but as an "experience."
- Cover-art collectors: Those who buy books for their cover designs and want to display them as art.
- Multi-book readers: Those who keep different books in progress on their desk, bedside, and living room.
- Book caretakers: Those who want to set their book down smartly while preventing spine damage and warping.

So, what do you think?
Reading is a journey that takes us away from the everyday. And precisely because of that, every journey needs beautiful resting places along the way.
The BOOK YACHT transforms your desk into a small harbor. It keeps your half-read book from ever becoming "just clutter." That alone is enough to elevate the entire experience of reading to a whole new level.
