Atop a cylinder, a small sphere rolls about.
Not in any regular pattern. Not quickly. Seemingly meaningful, yet not.
The Ticking Bug is not a tool for doing something, but a product made simply for watching a phenomenon unfold.
Not a clock, not a toy, not a decoration. And yet, you can't take your eyes off it. That is the true nature of this curious object.

| What Is the Ticking Bug?

The Ticking Bug is an object in which a small sphere keeps rolling irregularly atop a cylindrical base.
Resting on top is a tiny sphere just a few centimeters in diameter. It will:
- roll slowly
- suddenly stop
- and then start moving again, as if remembering to
This motion repeats endlessly.
What matters is that it never keeps a steady rhythm. Every guess of "it'll move like this next" is wrong, again and again.
That's the Ticking Bug.

Structurally, it's incredibly minimal.
- A cylindrical body
- A small drive mechanism built inside
- A sphere placed on top
The faint vibrations and movements inside are transmitted to the sphere above, producing motion that is never fully under control.
That "never fully under control" part is the key.
Though precisely engineered, the result is different every time.
It's almost as if a natural phenomenon had been cropped down to room size.

The Ticking Bug doesn't necessarily keep moving forever.
It stops for a while, and just when you think "I guess that's it," it gently rolls back into motion.
That pause (ma) is what's so good about it.
Precisely because it isn't always moving, the moment it does move next becomes a little event.
The opposite philosophy of efficiency or productivity. And yet, for an object you place on your desk, that feels remarkably wholesome.

The Ticking Bug suits places where it doesn't take center stage.
- The edge of a desk
- A corner of a bookshelf
- The side table in a living room
- A shelf at the entryway
Not somewhere you'll "definitely look," but somewhere it casually drifts into your view.
Between tasks, in moments when your thoughts get stuck, your gaze is unconsciously pulled in, and you watch the sphere move for a few seconds.
Just that quiets the noise in your head a notch.

The Ticking Bug resonates with people like this:
- Those who can't stop overthinking
- Those who find comfort in meaningless things
- Those who love watching things move
- Those who want a little "white space" on their desk
- Those who value the feeling of "I don't know why, but it intrigues me"
On the other hand, it's not at all suited to people who want clear purpose or instant results.
And that's perfectly fine.

The Ticking Bug is
- A small cylinder
- A sphere rolling on top of it
- Unpredictable movement
That's all it is.
But that "all it is" turns out to be surprisingly precious in everyday life.
No meaning, no purpose, no outcome. It just happens, you just watch, and it just passes by.
The Ticking Bug is an object for touching the outside of your thoughts.
Place one phenomenon on your desk. Just that shifts the air a little.
